horrible

After watching the video in class, i realized how little I knew about Skid Row. I had heard the name before but never really knew what it was. Through the video, i not only learned all about Skid Row but I was also incouraged to help those in my community, who like the men and women on skid row, are homeless and surrounded my drugs. It really made me sad to see all those people who live on the streets and really never know if their going to make it through the day. To me, the video was very effective. It opened my eyes to that horrible thing thats going on and even encourged me to want to help. It really appealed to pathos by showing all those people who really have no home, especially the little kids running around these dangerous streets. It also appealed to ethos by showing the man who used to sell drugs and has now found God. When he speaks, he talks about how low it is to do something like that and how he has found a better life and is now a rapper. Also, throughout the whole video, we're seeing facts about skid row, its size, the amount of people in it, statistics, etc. The man who made this video really appeals to all 3; logos, pathos, and ethos. His evidence is clear since it is a video and he is showing us the streets of this place with real people who go through this every day. It's a strong video which could capture anyone.

lets get married cause we're in love <3

I'm very liberal about everything except for my economics. So i am totally FOR gay marriage. My parents are both actors & everyone in my family is some kind of artist so you can imagine that i've been surrounded by gay men and women a little more than everyone else. I don't see why they shouldn't have the chance to get married but silly drunk kids can do it in vegas for shits and giggles. Honestly, the law should have been passed, their gonna be together anyway why not let them get married? We're suppossed to be a free country and little restrictions like this that really is not helping us out in anyway are going against what we stand for initially. Most of the silly kids i mentioned earlier get married for a good time & not cause their in love, while two men or two women who really are in love & believe it when they say "till death do us part" are not able to get married. Marriage shouldn't be taken away from any 2 people in love. Nowadays we can marry dogs.... DOGS.

But two men... WOAH, thats crazy.

I feel as though we're taking a right away from them that is rightfully theirs to begin with. So what if they happen to be attracted to the same sex, their not hurting anyone. Why do we feel the need to hurt them & the person they love?

-_- silly government

There is so much going on right now with our government that most people, including myself, tend to look past things that seem small right now; such as education. I actually didn't know about the "no child left behind" law. I had heard of that name before but i didn't know about the law itself & everything that it entails. After listening to the first video, i was really surprised that that was actually a law. I went to public school all of my life, except for high school, so it didn't affect me. But it's crazy how these teachers are forced to do better yearly when their teaching the same material to completely different students, i think thats ridiculous. Although she seemed frustrated in her argument, i was happy to see a teacher that cares. I love seeing teachers who care & really try to bring new things to the classroom bc it motivates me to work harder and do better. While she was explaining what the law stated, i was so shocked at the fact that who ever wrote this law actually thought it was a great idea?! I was literally thinking to myself: who would ever look at this and be like "wow, what a grrrreat idea"?! Then they name it something super cute like "no child left behind" to make you feel guilty if you don't agree with it. UGHH through these blogs i've noticed that i really get frustrated about things when i write about them -_-

Politics are the devil <3

It's ridiculous! I can't stand listening to people argue about politics, its never ending. When it comes to voting for president i find myself stuck having to choose between the less of two evils. The few people that are eligible and intelligent enough to run this country are too busy making millions to stop & spend their time running for president. First off, our economic problems can't be solved by the president anyway. He can give his opinion and make a million empty promises but in reality it will never be up to him. Ben Bernanke and the rest of the board on the federal reserve are the ones that run our lives economically. People worry so deeply about who their going to choose because of our economic state and how we're going into a recession and how we could go into a depression. Well if everyone had the amazing economics teacher that i had, they would know that if we look up the definition to the word recession we've technically been in a recession for months now.  The U.S. based National Bureau of Economic Research defines a recession as "a significant decline in economic activity spread across the economy, lasting more than a few months, normally visible in real GDP, real income, employment, industrial production, and wholesale-retail sales. A sustained recession may become a depression." So technically, we've been in a recession for months (:...
I still don't know who i'm voting for... They both have something that i could find my self saying "i would never want my president to say/do that" ... politics are all F-ed up

Ignorance =/

I watched the 9/11 video and a bit of the one about the federal reserve. The things that where stated in the 9/11 video really make you wonder how much people really know. I've always thought the government hides WAY too much from us but this video really almost terrifies you to think that we knew so little about something so big. It's crazy how it blames it on us when really, we're not educated on these subjects enough at all. Which brings me to the other video about the Federal Reserve. I had an amazing economics teacher in high school, fortunately. He forced us to learn things for ourselves and understand that the presidents really can't do anything about economics, that its all on the Federal Reserve. It's crazy how little most people who have a full blown education know. Most of our presidents got C's in economics in highschool... c'mon now, really??

i HATE politics talk because people make really uneducated statements, ALL THE TIME.

literally LOL

LOL! Watching that sponge bob video made my day! I totally understand that the media has a huge impact on everything we do. Its somehow become part of life & it's pointless to turn away from it so i've just learned to embrace it. The music i listen to, the shows i watch, it all reflects me as a person. So i like to think that i look for things that are ME, not that the things that i watch and listen to me define me. My music for example ranges from Frank Sinatra to Lil' Wayne and everything in-between. It will make most people say 'huh'? But in my case, each artist writes something that either makes laugh, cry, scream, dance, etc. I appreciate it, and believe that in some ways it does change me. When this subject comes up, most people get all defensive and angry about the fact that the media is taking over peoples lives lol. It's gonna happen whether everyones freaking out about it or not. So i say, why waste your time freaking out when you can enjoy it and accept the fact that you can't change it?

Artists on my iTunes:

if only...

...If only everyone would really try to help.
If only people where educated on all the ways they can help.
If only everyone knew that it's so easy to help

I know because in my high school, we where educated on problems like these. They taught us ways to help and it made everyone want to help. I was in a class called Special Issues where we had a different issue every 2 months or so. We would first learn all about the issue and then we where actually able to help, hands on. For example, we had an issue called "project rice bowl". In this we decorated the school & dressed in black for a week to promote helping the hungry. After two months everyone would turn in a donation box the size of the average rice bowl. All the money we got would go straight to poor countries. We went from class to class showing videos, pictures, and reading impacting stories to encourage everyone else in the school to want to help as well.
Although i already graduated, i still go back every two months or so to help out on these projects. Most of the students in that class and even some students that weren't still go back to help on the various projects as well. It's so easy to help, but unfortunately no one knows how. The organizations that are out there aren't promoted enough to make an impact like they should. It takes impacting pictures, videos, and stories to make us feel guilty and want to help.
Aside from project Rice Bowl, we did many others to help children living in the worst neighborhoods in florida. For example, 'Tricks-no-treats' was a project where we brought poor children from about 4 different schools to our school to go trick or treating from class to class. The students in our school would bring candy & pass it out as the children went around. These children wouldnt be able to go trick or treating if it wasn't for this because their neighborhoods are too dangerous. After a full day of trick or treating we take them to the fully decorated library where they have a party with prizes and activities. The children walk in looking scared and tough, and they leave with smiles from ear to ear. It makes all the hard work worth it.
