if only...

...If only everyone would really try to help.
If only people where educated on all the ways they can help.
If only everyone knew that it's so easy to help

I know because in my high school, we where educated on problems like these. They taught us ways to help and it made everyone want to help. I was in a class called Special Issues where we had a different issue every 2 months or so. We would first learn all about the issue and then we where actually able to help, hands on. For example, we had an issue called "project rice bowl". In this we decorated the school & dressed in black for a week to promote helping the hungry. After two months everyone would turn in a donation box the size of the average rice bowl. All the money we got would go straight to poor countries. We went from class to class showing videos, pictures, and reading impacting stories to encourage everyone else in the school to want to help as well.
Although i already graduated, i still go back every two months or so to help out on these projects. Most of the students in that class and even some students that weren't still go back to help on the various projects as well. It's so easy to help, but unfortunately no one knows how. The organizations that are out there aren't promoted enough to make an impact like they should. It takes impacting pictures, videos, and stories to make us feel guilty and want to help.
Aside from project Rice Bowl, we did many others to help children living in the worst neighborhoods in florida. For example, 'Tricks-no-treats' was a project where we brought poor children from about 4 different schools to our school to go trick or treating from class to class. The students in our school would bring candy & pass it out as the children went around. These children wouldnt be able to go trick or treating if it wasn't for this because their neighborhoods are too dangerous. After a full day of trick or treating we take them to the fully decorated library where they have a party with prizes and activities. The children walk in looking scared and tough, and they leave with smiles from ear to ear. It makes all the hard work worth it.
